The best way to learn how to drift is on a track where it’s safe. We offer two drifting classes: Drift 101 and Drift 102. These class weekends are a training event with no spectators where newbies can learn car control and drifting in a safe, legal environment with experienced instructors. It’s a fantastic event to do before jumping into a Drifting the Plains or hotlap event. Drivers will learn about tech inspection, car setup, tire specs, driving lines, and consistency.
Free camping is available. Power hookups are $40 for the weekend. You can drive your drift car to the track or you can trailer it – we have plenty of space!
Drift 101
The Drift 101 on Saturday is for drivers with less than 5 events of experience. We will be going over tech inspection, circles, figure 8s, 1 corner drift, transitions, and at the end of the day you will have an opportunity to run a full layout. Drift 101 drivers can also participate in the 102 on Sunday (bring $125 cash Sunday morning to pay for the upgrade) but will need approval from their instructor to do so.
Drift 102
The Drift 102 on Sunday is designed for those looking to advance their skill. There is no event count restriction but we ask that if you have run tandem many times that you do not register. You can only register for Drift 102 if you complete and pass Drift 101.
What do I need to bring to class?
- a RWD vehicle with manual transmission and a pair of tires you don’t mind roasting
- Make sure lug nuts are tight and your seat belt or harness locks properly.
- Battery must be secured with a proper tie-down – no zip ties please. Make sure the positive terminal is covered (electrical tape is fine as a temporary cover).
- No leaking fluids.
- a DOT-rated helmet
- a cooler with your lunch and drinks (optional: snacks to trade with your new friends!)
